Spruce House

Inspired by ranches nestled into the foothills of Big Sur, toasty spruce cladding and weathered Corten steel feel right at home among the bull pines and tall oak trees that envelop this York, Maine site.

A gallery-inspired glass hall connects the public and private spaces. Custom terrazzo floors anchor the kitchen and entry, while a trimless window, door and baseboard profile provide a restrained, streamlined effect on every wall. James and Nold utilized multiple profiles of sustainable, thermo-treated spruce siding in order to ensure that the home felt nestled into its natural elements.
